Original thinking and writing is invited in discussion of the progressive development of man's understanding of himself and the Universe. What is "Awakening"? What does it mean? Since the dawn of modern man, individuals have claimed to have had experiences of a perception of reality, 'as it is', implying that our normal everyday perception is incorrect or incomplete. This has been called by different names, including awakening, realization, enlightenment, etc. Is there a true nature of self and the universe, that we are not aware of, and that these individuals have glimpsed? Many philosophical disciplines and organizations claim to have understanding of these things already. If they claim to, but really do not, to attract followers, they are nothing more than cults. The MAJORITY of people worldwide 'follow' one or another religion, discipline/organization. Believing 'theirs' is true, while the others are not. The obvious thought that comes to mind is that they can't all be right. Are they 'ALL' cults? You decide. What is the definition of a cult?
